De sheperds from the Mazandaran province (central North Iran) wear large capes without a splits for the arms. The lining is in natural felt in shades of white or brown, but here and there leftovers of died wool appear and generate intriguing abstract patterns.

The ample capes with their jagged shoulderpieces seem to double the size of the sheperds. They protects them during the severe winters of northern Iran and also grant them enough room to move.
