Afshari tribes have Turkish roots and played an important part in the Persian political landscape when the Safavids came to power in the 16th century. They were part of the Qizilbash federation. They live all around Iran, but mainly in Khuzestan, the Kerman area and, also in Azerbaijan and in Khorassan.
