During Turkmen weddings, the neck and head of the camel were adorned with a douje bashlik. This adornment was made up of a series of small fabrics and textiles in silk, wool and cotton, embroidered and patchworked.

Talismans and small ritual objects were added. The wedding procession traditionally included a dozen camels to carry the bride and her trousseau. The importance and opulence of the ornamentation reflected the wealth and social status of the families.
