Heavy and high pile quality. Bakhshayesh is in the Heriz aerea, Azerbaijan.

Bakshayesh (in the Iranian province of Azerbaijan) owes its reputation to the products of a series of small villages and modest hamlets around Heriz. In the 19th and 20th centuries, remarkable qualities were produced by highly skilled artisans.

Powerful geometric designs and a first-class quality of wool made the Heriz carpet one of the most prized Persian rugs.

Although the production has lost its former lustre, today there is a tendency to assign the Heriz name to other carpets knotted in the region (Bakhshayesh, Atraf, Yoravan, Ahar, Tsheshmezan, Bilverdi, etc.), simply because Heriz's reputation seems to give them added value.
