Many Kurds live in Eastern Iran in the Khorassan province. The style of their work is easy to identify. In the area of Gooshang they produce supple and rather coarse village rugs. Red is the main colour. Geometrical patterns remind of the Caucasus but there is undeniably an influence from the Baluchi and the Turkoman tribes.

Kurds live all over the Middle East. They have a very old culture, and their carpet weaving has a strong reputation. In Iran their tribes are mostly concentrated in the area of Kermanshah, and Sanandaj, but due to persecutions they have also fled much more eastwards in Khorassan.
